Teaching Mathematics at Secondary Level by Tony Gardiner

This study is aimed at anyone who would like to think more deeply about the discipline of ‘elementary mathematics’, in England and Wales and anywhere else. By analysing and supplementing the current curriculum, Teaching Mathematics provides food for thought for all those involved in school mathematics, whether as aspiring teachers or as experienced professionals. It challenges us all to reflect upon what it is that makes secondary school mathematics educationally, culturally, and socially important.

About the author: Tony Gardiner, former Reader in Mathematics and Mathematics Education at the University of Birmingham, was responsible for the foundation of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust in 1996. Gardiner served as President of the Mathematical Association, and in 2011 was elected Education Secretary of the London Mathematical Society.

The CK-12 Foundation is a California-based non-profit organization which aims to increase access to low-cost K-12 education. CK-12 provides free and customizable K-12 open educational resources
Khan Academy Mathematics This link opens in a new window
Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. They tackle math, science, computing, history, art history, economics, and more, including K-14 and test preparation (SAT, Praxis, LSAT) content. They focus on skill mastery to help learners establish strong foundations.

Many of the library resources for math teachers are found on EBSCOhost. The following search box allows you to search only on eBooks relating to mathematics. If promoted use you mConnect ID to log into these these services. See also the resources listed under the Maths Bookshelf tab located at the top of this page.

Hint: When searching EBSCO for math books use the full word "statistics" and not "stats". You can use boolean operators (AND, NOT, OR) as well as * as a WildCard, for example, measur* to search on measurement, measurements and measuring.
